Job Summary

Lead field operations for power testing and energization (PTE) projects, overseeing day-to-day site activities and ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Execute and validate protection and control testing on high-voltage substations, including hands-on protective relay testing with Omicron and Doble test sets and microprocessor relay settings. Coordinate with engineers and contractors, mentor technicians, manage logistics and readiness planning, and document results using digital field tools.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead field operations for power testing and energization (PTE) projects, providing technical guidance, hands-on execution, and oversight of daily site activities.
•Perform testing and commissioning of Protection and Control systems on high-voltage substations, including protective relay testing and validating test sequences to plans and standards.
•Follow safety protocols, conduct daily safety briefings and job hazard assessments, and lead implementation of site-specific health and safety and quality control procedures.
•Lead field crews by assigning tasks, monitoring performance, mentoring technicians, and coordinating with clients, contractors, vendors, and project managers.
•Maintain field readiness planning and oversee tools, vehicles, materials, and inventory; ensure accurate data collection and reporting using digital tools.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Minimum 11 years of experience in the electrical testing industry, including medium/high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation protection and controls testing.
•Demonstrable expertise with transmission, generation, or distribution relays and protective schemes.
•Advanced protective relay testing/calibration experience using Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150, including control scheme testing and static/dynamic testing of microprocessor-based relays.
•Knowledge of field testing standards and practices such as NETA, IEEE, and NFPA, plus strong communication, reporting, and ability to work outdoors and travel (up to 80%).
