Key Responsibilities

  • •Drive decisions and alignment across Partners and Canva engineering by explaining feasibility, generating options, and driving to a decision with owning teams.
  • •Set technical direction for Canva’s external platform surface by deciding where to invest, deprecate, and evolve based on partner signal and engineering reality.
  • •Validate proposed solutions against Canva’s architecture using working code, and sketch change possibilities to unblock decisions.
  • •Drive product-line engineering across MCP, REST APIs, Apps-in-Canva, and middleware PaaS to keep the external platform surface coherent as new capabilities land.
  • •Lead technical relationships end-to-end for flagship partner engagements by shaping roadmaps, driving spikes, and carrying decisions through to Canva teams.

Key Requirements

  • •10+ years of experience operating at the seam between partner engineering, platform engineering, and product.
  • •Built developer platforms with production code shipped for external developers.
  • •Deep technical knowledge across an AI platform stack, including real opinions on MCP, tool-use, agentic API design, and tradeoffs.
  • •Can move fluidly between product roadmap, system design, and partner negotiation while advancing all toward resolution.
  • •Demonstrates the ability to bring prototype/sample code to hard conversations without overselling or overbuilding.
