Key Responsibilities

  • •Plan, schedule, assign, and direct Substation Operations work; administer local department budgets.
  • •Coordinate with related departments and oversee substation construction, modification, and maintenance projects, including capital and automation initiatives.
  • •Prepare and implement reliability-focused preventative maintenance programs aligned to NERC/NPCC compliance and Public Utility Commission targets, including “Bright Line” requirements for facilities rated 100kV and above.
  • •Oversee installation, testing, and maintenance of protective devices, control circuits, and supervisory equipment; ensure work follows safety rules, internal/industry standards, and approved policies/procedures.
  • •Manage staffing and training, conduct performance appraisals, administer labor relations contract communications, and provide emergency/storm incident support including after-hours duty.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelors degree with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience preferred, or Associates degree with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience, or High School/GED with completion of the relevant progression program and 10 years relevant experience required.
  • •Knowledge of electrical or mechanical technology, electric substations, substation equipment, control circuits, and system protection/control devices.
  • •Knowledge of facility systems and electrical/HVAC/energy management and control systems is a plus.
  • •Strong supervisory, project management, and computer skills, including proficiency with tools such as WMS, CMS, OMS, SAP, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • •Must be available outside regularly scheduled hours for storms, system emergencies, and/or critical assignments.
