Job Summary

Prepare and compute transit electrical cost estimates for multiple disciplines by gathering drawings, specifications, and proposals, identifying labor/material/time requirements, and analyzing discrepancies. Assemble numerical and descriptive estimate packages and produce special reports based on information and trends. Maintain and back up a cost database, support technical growth through workshops/publications, and work closely with the Project Controls and Technology team across Washington DC, Columbia, MD, or Herndon, VA.

Key Responsibilities

•Prepares work to be estimated by gathering drawings, specifications, and related documents for various disciplines.
•Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents.
•Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements and resolving discrepancies through collected/analyzed information.
•Presents prepared estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information, including special reports based on trends.
•Maintains a cost database by entering and backing up data and maintains technical knowledge by attending workshops and reviewing publications.

Key Requirements

•10 years related experience in transit electrical estimating (facilities, systems, infrastructure).
•Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (e.g., Civil Engineering) or Construction Management, or equivalent.
•Demonstrated skill in developing conceptual through bid document crew-based or unit price cost estimates.
•Strong knowledge of On-Screen Takeoff or Bluebeam software and MS Office applications.
•Able to read plans and develop cost estimates with a strong understanding of construction processes.
