Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the reliability and performance of production ClickHouse clusters, whether self-hosted on Kubernetes or running on managed services.
  • •Design standard cluster architecture and tooling to scale to dozens of multi-node clusters without linear growth in operational effort.
  • •Manage the cluster lifecycle as code: provisioning, configuration, scaling, upgrades, and migrations.
  • •Build monitoring and alerting to detect issues before users notice, and own backups and disaster recovery with regularly tested restores.
  • •Act as the go-to ClickHouse expert, handle routine database requests with automation, and step in during rare production emergencies with root-cause analysis and postmortem contributions.

Key Requirements

  • •Deep DBA-level knowledge of ClickHouse in production, including how it stores, merges, replicates, and queries data, plus strong SQL for optimizing analytical queries and schema design.
  • •Ability to design cluster architecture and automation for dozens of multi-node clusters, with experience operating large fleets of database instances (ClickHouse preferred but not required).
  • •Hands-on operation of stateful database workloads on Kubernetes in production, including experience using Kubernetes database operators (e.g., CloudNativePG, Zalando Postgres Operator, Altinity, ClickHouse operator).
  • •Experience with database lifecycle tasks including version upgrades, backup and restore, and migrating large datasets between clusters/regions with zero or minimal downtime.
  • •Strong troubleshooting across the stack (queries/schema design through Kubernetes, Linux, storage, and networking), with proactive monitoring and incident prevention.
