Job Summary

Scale and run the legal and compliance team’s operating systems, including legal technology and AI strategy, budgets and outside counsel spend, vendor management, and data-driven reporting. Lead a Commercial Legal-focused Legal Operations team member, drive process improvements and cross-functional enablement, and partner closely with Business Operations and Finance to ensure legal workflows stay integrated with Plaid’s broader programs and deliver measurable productivity gains.

Key Responsibilities

•Set legal and compliance technology strategy and roadmap, with a focus on how AI changes legal workflows and measurable productivity gains.
•Own legal and compliance budget, including legal billing operations and outside counsel spend; build and enforce billing guidelines in Brightflag and partner with Finance on forecasting/accruals.
•Build dashboards and tracking for legal/compliance performance, contracting throughput, and spend; surface trends/risks and report to leadership.
•Coach and develop the Commercial Legal-focused Legal Operations team member who handles day-to-day contracting operations.
•Manage legal vendor relationships and legal tech stack platforms (Ironclad, Brightflag, Discern, Logikcull, Reveal) across intake, evaluation, onboarding, performance, and renewal.

Salary: USD 190,080 - 237,600 annually

•7+ years in legal operations at a high-growth company, including direct contracting-operations experience.
•Owned a legal budget and managed outside counsel spend, including e-billing/spend management and enforcing billing guidelines.
•Experienced managing legal vendors and outside counsel relationships across evaluation, onboarding, performance, and renewal.
•Hands-on CLM platform expertise (Ironclad strongly preferred) with workflow configuration, templates, and integrations (Salesforce in particular).
•Experience scaling legal-focused AI tools in production (e.g., Claude for Legal, Harvey, GC.AI), including guardrails and quality controls.
