Job Summary

Leading on-site health, safety, security and environmental (HSSE) management for a large mining EPCM project. You’ll oversee contractor safety plans, ensure regulatory compliance, develop emergency response and health programs, conduct risk assessments and audits, and deliver safety training across civil, structural, mechanical and earthworks scopes in both open pit and underground environments.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead the development and implementation of safety programs, health and hygiene initiatives, and environmental controls across the project site.
•Review and oversee contractors’ environmental, health, and safety plans, supporting pre-qualification and selection processes to ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
•Ensure preparation and maintenance of emergency response and preparedness plans and comprehensive health programs considering public impacts.
•Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
•Lead the delivery of training on health and safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and proper use of PPE.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent work experience
•10+ years of safety management experience in active mining environments, with open pit and underground experience preferred
•Experience in large-scale heavy civil construction/mining infrastructure and associated environmental controls
•MSHA certification is required; additional certifications (CMSP, CSP, CSMC, CIH, OSHA 30) preferred; MSHA Authorized Trainer preferred
•Ability to liaise between designers, owners, contractors, and end-users; willingness to work in active construction environments with uneven surfaces and at heights
