Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead development and implementation of safety programs, health and hygiene initiatives, and environmental control/reporting systems across the project site.
  • •Review and oversee contractors’ environmental, health, and safety plans and procedures, supporting pre-qualification/selection and ensuring compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • •Maintain emergency response and preparedness plans and comprehensive health programs that consider public impacts and assessments.
  • •Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits, identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • •Investigate incidents and near misses, document findings, recommend corrective actions, and collect/analyze HSSE data for management reports; mentor junior staff.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management is preferred (or trade school/equivalent work experience).
  • •10+ years of hands-on safety management experience in active mining settings, including open pit and underground mine development.
  • •Experience with large-scale heavy civil construction and/or mining infrastructure (e.g., haul roads, underground access, tailings systems, environmental controls).
  • •MSHA certification is required; OSHA 30-hour and certifications such as CMSP, CSP, CSMC, CIH are preferred (MSHA Authorized Trainer preferred).
  • •Knowledge of construction and mine safety regulations, plus strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; must pass drug test and background check and meet driving record requirements.
