Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop, optimize, and qualify welding processes and parameters for multiple welding methods including electron beam, laser beam, GTAW, resistance, GMAW, friction stir, and plasma arc welding.
  • •Support production operations on full-scale welded assemblies by directing manufacturing engineers and welders on correct techniques.
  • •Perform root cause analysis with design, manufacturing, and materials engineering partners to drive corrective improvements.
  • •Set up welding qualification test campaigns and interpret mechanical testing and NDE results to evaluate weld quality on development and flight hardware.
  • •Develop process control improvements using test/NDE feedback and set up automated welding solutions; scope new welding technologies to improve rate, quality, and efficiency.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • •Hands-on fabrication, manufacturing, or testing experience of welded assemblies.
  • •Master’s degree in welding engineering or related technical program.
  • •Hands-on welding experience with stainless steel, nickel-based, titanium, copper, and aluminum alloys.
  • •Understanding of welding processes including electron beam, laser beam, plasma arc, resistance, friction-stir, gas tungsten arc, and gas metal arc.
