Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead technical support for overhead line design on complex multi-discipline projects and large programmes of work.
  • •Drive feasibility studies, including conductor thermal ratings, compliance with industry standards and regulations, and identifying preferred technical solutions.
  • •Manage assigned OHL design activities such as PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structural analysis, design criteria, sag-tension calculations, and structural spotting.
  • •Produce and check engineering deliverables including complex designs, reports, proposals, presentations, and drawing packages, plus internal quality checks.
  • •Write proposals and support business development activities while mentoring and sharing knowledge within the Transmission & Distribution team.

Key Requirements

  • •Professionally qualified CEng Chartered Engineer with a recognized electrical engineering institution (e.g., the IET).
  • •Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline, preferably electrical engineering or power engineering.
  • •Experience delivering projects for transmission system operators such as National Grid, SSE, and SPT (CDAE accreditation highly advantageous).
  • •Project experience in overhead line engineering (ideally up to 400kV).
  • •Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
