Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide personal financial counseling and management services to service members and their families at assigned military installations.
  • •Deliver one-on-one counseling, consult with commanders or providers, provide briefings/presentations, and offer referral resources.
  • •Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences and develop informational financial materials for families.
  • •Coordinate, publicize, and provide Personal Financial Management classes/workshops across the military lifecycle, and respond to requests for age-appropriate seminars.
  • •Use virtual counseling or other electronic communication modes when required, manage duty-to-warn situations per DoD protocol, and participate in supervision, training, and quality improvement activities.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's degree required (associate degree plus 4 years’ experience or high school diploma plus 6 years’ experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree).
  • •3+ years of financial counseling experience.
  • •Must be a U.S. citizen and speak fluent English.
  • •Obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation and be able to pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for OCI process.
  • •Hold one of: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
