Drive the technical vision for Cloudflare Tunnel, helping securely connect any machine to the Cloudflare network at global edge scale. Own system architecture and implementation across edge services and microservice clusters, guiding capacity planning and next-generation features for Tunnel, Mesh, and Zero Trust Network. Collaborate with security, network engineering, SRE, and product to design, scale, and maintain resilient systems with high-quality, monitorable deployments.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead architecture and implementation of Cloudflare Tunnel systems, including the cross-platform open-source client and edge services.
•Participate across the software development lifecycle: design/document, write code, automated tests, and monitor production deployments.
•Collaborate with security, network engineering, SRE, and product management to design and scale technical solutions.
•Review peers’ work to ensure high-quality, maintainable code across the development lifecycle.
•Debug complex systems and drive the long-term technical roadmap and system-wide improvements for resiliency at scale.

Key Requirements

•5+ years of backend software development focused on secure, highly available distributed systems.
•Strong programming skills in Go, Rust, C++, or a similar systems-level language.
•Knowledge of modern Unix/Linux development and runtime environments.
•Understanding of networking protocols (OSI layers 3–7) and experience with network programming.
•Experience with monitoring/logging (Prometheus, Grafana), containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and microservices/APIs (RESTful design).
