Job Summary

Lead and manage design projects within the Water sector, supporting mid-scale to complex programmes from concept through completion. Work with the Project Director and Project Manager to oversee engineering design, budgets, timelines, and compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards. Manage client relationships, chair Design Team Meetings, drive Safety by Design, handle RFIs/early warnings, and improve delivery processes across multi-disciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead design management for mid-scale and complex projects, managing resources, timelines, and budgets from concept through completion.
•Ensure projects comply with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, and drive Safety by Design practices in line with UK CDM regulations.
•Manage client relationships and collaborate with engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.
•Lead client and project meetings, report on progress and financials, address technical challenges, and facilitate Design Team Meetings with minutes and action closure.
•Coordinate disciplines through workshops, manage change control, handle RFIs and early warnings, and analyse/respond to design transmittals to reduce project risk.

Key Requirements

•MEng/BEng/BSc or HND/HNC in an Engineering, Environmental or numerate science subject.
•Member of an appropriate professional institute (Chartered or working towards).
•Experience delivering complex projects in an infrastructure programme and project delivery environment.
•Significant experience in project and contract management, including knowledge of H&S standards and regulations.
