Job Summary

Mechanical Engineering Co‑op on the Hardware and Controls Mechanical team, designing, building, and testing benchtop to full‑size lab automation workcells. Collaborate with experimental scientists, AI/ML researchers, and software/controls engineers from CAD to prototype to initial test builds, contributing to autonomous scientific discovery and scalable life/physical science automation.

Job Function: Field Service, Maintenance & Skilled Trades

Key Responsibilities

•Design and engineer components ranging from bench-scale robotics to full-size lab automation workcells, using knowledge of mechanical system design.
•Work with cross-functional teams on CAD design and analysis.
•Create and test engineered solutions using 3D printing and other fabrication methods, from static fixtures to multi-axis motion assemblies.
•Support assembly and build processes with guidance from senior engineers.
•Take ownership of discrete project tasks end to end, from spec to delivery.

Key Requirements

•Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related field.
•Experience with SolidWorks CAD design (Parts and Assemblies) or similar parametric 3D CAD software.
•Proactive mindset with eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
•Ability to balance input and collaborate across multiple teams or stakeholders.
•Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
