Job Summary

Advise internal teams and external stakeholders on employment law across multiple jurisdictions as part of Oyster’s Employment Law Team. Own and maintain employment templates, policies, and standard processes, and translate legislative changes into compliant, scalable solutions. Partner with Product and People teams to support hiring through termination and to improve Oyster’s employment-as-a-platform model, including EOR-related legal considerations. Use AI and automation to streamline workflows and scale impact.

Key Responsibilities

•Own and maintain employment templates, policies, and processes across multiple jurisdictions to keep offerings compliant and scalable.
•Monitor global legislative and regulatory developments and drive implementation of required changes.
•Partner with Product, People, and other stakeholders to design and implement compliant employment solutions.
•Advise on employment law and compliance across the employee lifecycle (hiring, compensation, leave, performance, and terminations).
•Research complex employment law issues and translate analysis into clear, practical, business-focused recommendations.

Key Requirements

•Law degree (e.g., JD or equivalent) and admission to practice law in one or more jurisdictions.
•4+ years of experience practicing employment law, ideally with a mix of law firm and in-house work.
•Deep employment law expertise, including drafting/reviewing contracts, managing templates and policies, and advising across employment matters and local labor regulations.
•Understanding of the Employer of Record (EOR) model and its unique legal challenges (EOR experience preferred).
•Experience managing multi-jurisdictional and/or cross-border employment matters and translating complex legal concepts into clear guidance for non-legal stakeholders.
