Key Responsibilities

  • •Work under the direction of the Master and Chief Mate to safely navigate and perform cargo watch keeping.
  • •Stand an independent watch in the cargo control room and assist in cargo operations.
  • •Maintain, document, and verify safety equipment work aboard the vessel.
  • •Monitor the deck and pump room for spills/leaks and make hourly rounds during cargo watch.
  • •Assist with organizing and conducting the safety program, participating in drills and emergencies, and enforcing rules, procedures, regulations, and pollution prevention.

Key Requirements

  • •USCG 3rd Mates Unlimited Tonnage endorsement and/or a Bachelor’s degree, with a Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC).
  • •Currently hold (or be able to obtain) a U.S. Passport and have (or be able to obtain) required endorsements listed on the MMC.
  • •Have a TWIC card (Transportation Workers Identification Card).
  • •Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than the current employer.
  • •Be willing and able to perform essential physical and job duties, including being away from home for more than two months.
