Key Responsibilities

  • •Set technical and market direction for Meter’s first data center switching business line, extending hardware, firmware, and infrastructure platforms.
  • •Partner with firmware and backend engineering leadership on control plane design, API design, and observability, including reviewing designs and debugging.
  • •Provide input on hardware/software tradeoffs (e.g., port density and thermal limits) using hardware team expertise as the basis.
  • •Build the hiring plan and help assemble an engineering team for control plane, APIs, optics, and observability for the switches.
  • •Talk with prospective enterprise data center customers to understand needs and identify where the market is underserved.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 205,000 - 270,000 annually

  • •Built and shipped firmware or software for a data center networking platform, with real exposure to control plane, API design, and observability in deployments.
  • •Knows enough about hardware to form informed opinions on ASIC capabilities, port speed, and power/thermal constraints, while partnering with hardware experts.
  • •Prefers hands-on work in the firmware repo or incident channels over endless planning meetings; operates with low ego.
  • •Can align hardware, firmware, and software leads without formal authority, acting as a trusted peer.
