Job Summary

Assist licensed anesthesia providers before, during, and after anesthesia by preparing and maintaining anesthesia delivery systems and patient monitoring devices for routine and complex surgical cases. Support invasive and non-invasive monitoring, assist with difficult airway intubation using video laryngoscopy and fiber optic equipment, and execute protocols such as Malignant Hyperthermia and code response procedures. Maintain anesthesia carts and perioperative equipment, ensuring cleaning, sterilizing, stocking, and safe operation.

Key Responsibilities

•Assist licensed anesthesia providers in acquiring, preparing, and applying anesthesia equipment and supplies for anesthesia administration.
•Provide support with invasive and non-invasive monitoring setup, including pressure measurements and placing monitoring components such as EKG electrodes, blood pressure cuff, and pulse oximetry.
•Assist with difficult airway intubation by providing video laryngoscopy equipment and/or fiber optic intubation scope, using techniques to secure an open airway.
•Execute Malignant Hyperthermia protocol related to anesthesia machine preparation and respond appropriately to codes to assist anesthesia provider and OR staff.
•Maintain, stock, clean, organize, and prepare anesthesia carts and perioperative anesthesia equipment, including cleaning, sterilizing, disinfecting, ordering, and maintaining supplies.

Key Requirements

•Complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Anesthesia Technology (preferred), or an approved alternative such as B.SC Nursing plus an anesthesia diploma, a related associates degree, or a 2-year anesthesia diploma.
•Have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (minimum).
•Possess the minimum anesthesia technologist qualification/experience (minimum requirements are stated for anesthesia technologists and post-qualification experience).
•Knowledge of regulatory standards and the ability to interpret and apply them to comply with regulations.
•Experience supporting anesthesia by preparing equipment/supplies and assisting with patient monitoring and perioperative devices under direct supervision of the licensed anesthesia provider.
