Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform skilled repairs across light electrical, carpentry, plumbing, sheet-rocking, plastering, and painting throughout the museum and offices.
  • •Carry out routine building maintenance such as HVAC filter replacement, equipment greasing, and fixing minor structural damages.
  • •Repair broken or leaking plumbing to prevent water damage and restore fixtures.
  • •Address safety hazards (e.g., worn carpet, faulty flooring, door threshold issues) and replace light bulbs and simple fixtures/outlets/switches.
  • •Maintain cleanliness through cleaning, sanitizing, trash removal/recycling coverage, inspections, and assistance with facility cleaning and maintenance projects.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 29 hourly

Key Requirements

  • •Live within walking distance of the Studio Museum in Harlem or neighboring Harlem community.
  • •5+ years’ experience as a maintenance technician in a museum or class-A building, or 8 years as an Environmental Service Worker in a similar institution.
  • •Bilingual in Spanish and English (and other languages).
  • •Have a NY State Driver’s License.
  • •Two-year associate degree in building management (or equivalent education/experience).
