Job Summary

Own product and marketing legal coverage as the first-line counsel for a fast-moving fintech startup. Advise Product, Engineering, and Marketing on product launches, payments architecture, card network compliance, consumer disclosures, data sharing, and regulatory notices. Draft and review consumer-facing agreements and online terms, evaluate marketing campaigns for compliance, and translate complex requirements into clear guidance. Coordinate with Compliance and support escalated inquiries and bank-partner matters.

Key Responsibilities

•Serve as the go-to legal advisor for day-to-day product and engineering questions impacting disclosures, data sharing, and customer experience.
•Draft, review, and maintain consumer-facing agreements, online terms, and regulatory notices using established templates or helping build them.
•Review marketing campaigns for legal compliance, including offer terms, promotional disclosures, sweepstakes rules, and template modifications.
•Advise on card network rules and network agreements (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) and their application to transaction processing, dispute resolution, and product design.
•Provide payments-related legal guidance (settlement, payment processing, and funds flow architecture) and coordinate with Compliance on regulatory interpretation and exam preparation.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 200,000 - 250,000 annually

Key Requirements

•J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
•4–6 years of legal experience with a financial services background (credit cards ideal; consumer deposit/lending, digital banking, payments, or fintech strongly considered).
•Familiarity with federal consumer finance regulations (e.g., TILA/Reg Z, ECOA/Reg B, EFTA/Reg E, FCRA, UDAAP, CAN-SPAM, TCPA).
•Experience drafting and reviewing consumer-facing agreements, disclosures, and marketing materials.
•Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, deliver legal guidance under tight timelines, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners.
