Job Summary

Join a specialist art and collections valuation team, working closely with an experienced Principal Valuer. You’ll support valuations for insurance, financial reporting, and asset management by conducting research, fieldwork, and collection inspections, then helping deliver professional valuation reports and art risk consulting recommendations. This hybrid role is based in Auckland, with opportunities to build client relationships and grow into increasing ownership over time.

Key Responsibilities

•Assist in preparing and delivering art and collections valuations for insurance, financial reporting, and asset management purposes.
•Conduct market research and analysis to support valuation conclusions and verify information relating to artworks and collections.
•Participate in collection inspections, condition recording, site visits, and client meetings.
•Contribute to professional valuation reports and art risk consulting recommendations to help clients protect and manage their collections.
•Build positive relationships with clients, brokers, collectors, and industry stakeholders through the valuation process.

Key Requirements

•Genuine interest in art, collections, and cultural objects, with curiosity, initiative, and a desire for continuous learning.
•Strong research and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging with clients and stakeholders.
•Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
•Background in art history, museums, galleries, auction houses, collection management, valuation, or insurance is advantageous but not essential.
