Job Summary

Join WSP’s Local Government highways team in Exeter, delivering highways, bridges, and infrastructure projects across the South West. Provide technical leadership and lead multi-disciplinary teams to ensure high-quality design and consultancy services are delivered on time and to budget. Manage project teams, budgeting, programming, and client relationships, including tenders and fees, while mentoring junior team members and supporting growth of the local highway engineering capability.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide technical leadership for teams delivering Local Government led infrastructure projects.
•Lead and/or manage Local Government infrastructure projects for local authority clients across the South West of England.
•Provide responsibility for project team management, technical leadership, multi-disciplinary coordination, budgeting, and programming.
•Manage resources and develop relationships with other teams.
•Develop client relationships, lead tenders/bids, agree fees, and manage the commercial position on projects.

Key Requirements

•A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience within a highway design environment.
•Experience in multidisciplinary highway design across different project stages.
•A broad range of project experience across civil engineering discipline and multi-disciplinary projects focused on highway, traffic and civil engineering projects.
•Proven working knowledge of key UK highways design guidance such as the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Manual for Streets, Traffic Signs Manuals and Local Transport Notes.
•Project management expertise, including reviewing client briefs and tenders, developing fee proposals, and leading project delivery through workload supervision and mentoring.
