Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • •Support a range of development planning projects across commercial, retail, and residential schemes, including Local Development Framework representations.
  • •Develop transport strategies and support expert witness evidence as part of client work for both private and public sector clients.
  • •Provide day-to-day technical transport planning input working with peers and more senior colleagues within the wider WSP business.
  • •Lead transport planning input into some projects to build project management and commercial skills, supported by the team.
  • •Collaborate with Highways, Services, Structures, and Environmental teams on larger multidisciplinary projects.

Key Requirements

  • •Experience with technical work including Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, access strategy work, parking strategies, and sustainable transport/active travel, using guidance such as NPPF, DfT Transport Assessment guidelines, and Manual for Streets.
  • •Experience preparing traffic flow information for use in a Transport Assessment and/or Environmental Statement.
  • •Ability to set up and run junction capacity modelling software such as Junctions 10 and Linsig, including inputs, outputs, and scenario testing.
  • •Capability to carry out conceptual junction design (priority, roundabout, signals).
  • •Confidence in communicating with clients and stakeholders and sharing knowledge within your technical areas.
