Key Responsibilities

  • •Advise data engineering architecture enhancements and engineering patterns across Azure Databricks and Azure Data Factory.
  • •Define and enforce distinctions between data engineering patterns and integration engineering patterns (including Azure Integration Services, streaming, alerting, and monitoring).
  • •Set platform optimisation strategy for caching, indexing, partitioning, and cost.
  • •Act as engineering quality gate and own DevOps end to end, including CI/CD for pipelines, environment promotion, branching standards, and release governance.
  • •Establish governance for data and algorithms, collaborate with analytics engineering and data science on data quality/security/governance, and mentor engineers while improving Data Engineering Service SLAs.

Key Requirements

  • •At least six years in data management disciplines including data integration, modelling, optimisation, and data quality, with proven delivery of modern cloud data platforms.
  • •Expert SQL with query optimisation, indexing strategy, and performance diagnosis.
  • •Expert DevOps capability, including CI/CD, release management, environment strategy, and engineering ceremony discipline.
  • •Experience extracting data from vendor/operational APIs, including authentication schemes (OAuth2), pagination, rate limits, and handling schema drift.
  • •Fundamental excellence in Azure Data Factory and strong development capability in Databricks and Spark, including Unity Catalog and Delta Lake, plus working knowledge of medallion architecture.
