Job Summary

Lead flood risk modelling and hydraulic/hydrological studies within the Water team, delivering accurate projects for internal and external clients. Own technical support, resource and financial management, and guide junior colleagues through mentoring and QA. Use industry-standard 1d-2d modelling and GIS tools to produce detailed reports, support option appraisal and flood alleviation schemes, and contribute to bids and proposals while staying current with UK Water industry standards and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

•Independently deliver flood modelling projects while providing technical support, resource and financial management.
•Lead projects and provide guidance to junior colleagues on flood risk assessments, 1d-2d hydraulic modelling, hydrology, option appraisal studies, and GIS desk studies.
•Check and review technical team outputs using established QA/review procedures for hydraulic modelling, hydrology, and flood risk management work.
•Produce and review detailed project reports and technical notes, including support for detailed technical writing.
•Continuously upskill on UK water industry standards, specifications, and tools; contribute to bids and fee proposals and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Requirements

•Masters Degree in Water Resources Engineering (or equivalent).
•10+ years of flood risk management, hydraulic modelling and hydrology experience, with UK Water industry exposure.
•Experience across flood risk management domains including flood risk assessment, option appraisal studies, flood alleviation schemes, and GIS based desk studies.
•Strong hands-on modelling experience using industry tools such as Flood Modeller Pro, TUFLOW, Estry, Infoworks ICM, MIKE, HEC-RAS 1d-2d, QGIS, ArcGIS (and Mapinfo).
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with MS Office and/or PowerBI, and the ability to independently lead technical issues and collaborate across disciplines.
