Key Responsibilities

  • •Oversee occupational injuries and illnesses, including investigations, injury classification recommendations, and workers’ compensation issues.
  • •Lead end-to-end workers’ compensation claims management, including reporting, claim administration, medical case management, return-to-work coordination, and resolution of complex claims in compliance with regulations.
  • •Provide direction and close partnership with onsite medical clinic operations.
  • •Lead the Industrial Hygiene plan and program of work across Borates California operating facilities and resolve complex health challenges using data and health trends.
  • •Recruit, train, mentor, and develop teams, and champion Rio Tinto Health, Safety and Environment standards and wellbeing initiatives.

Key Requirements

  • •A degree in an Occupational Health, HSE or hygiene related field.
  • •Experience in medical clinic management within the mining sector, heavy industry or equivalent.
  • •Experience working in a union environment and partnering with HR on health and hygiene matters.
  • •Experience developing and implementing strategic health programs, including fatigue, fit for work, and mental health and wellbeing.
  • •Knowledge of Californian and US health regulations (Cal/OSHA, MSHA).
