Job Summary

Supervise and coordinate asphalt paving crews to spread, roll, tamp, and patch asphalt for highways, streets, parking lots, and driveways. Ensure health and safety compliance, train crew members, and oversee safe work practices for employees and the public. Plan production schedules, estimate work requirements, calculate trucking needs from the hot plant, and tour job sites to verify progress and contract compliance.

Key Responsibilities

•Ensure health and safety standards are met by complying with legislation and company policies and promoting a safe work environment.
•Directly supervise 15 to 20 asphalt paving employees and ensure crew and public safety.
•Train new crew members and communicate work effectively to support job execution.
•Coordinate crew activities, study production schedules, estimate work requirements, and ensure completion in line with job estimates.
•Calculate truck counts for hauling asphalt and tour job sites to verify progress, measure slope/material thickness, and monitor equipment and worker utilization.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED and 3+ years of related asphalt and paving experience (or an equivalent combination of education and training).
•Ability to read and understand simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
•Ability to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide) using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and interpret bar graphs.
•Ability to type, use keyboards accurately, and use database software.
•Ability to safely operate equipment and keep time and material records.
