Job Summary

Design and build electronics for a sensor-bridge board for Apollo, aggregating high-speed camera data and human-robot interface signals. Own FPGA hardware subsystem execution—from schematic capture and layout guidance to VHDL/Verilog RTL blocks, validation, bring-up, and debugging across the hardware/RTL boundary. Location: Austin
Workplace: Onsite
Employment Type: Full time
Job Function: Hardware, Embedded & Systems Engineering
Seniority: Mid level

Key Responsibilities

  • •Own parts of the sensor-bridge subsystem from requirements and part selection through schematic capture, layout guidance, RTL implementation, and documentation (schematics, RTL docs, test plans, fab/assembly drawings).
  • •Design and validate high-speed mixed-signal interfaces for camera and interface functions, including signal integrity/impedance control, power tree sequencing, EMC/ESD, and thermal constraints.
  • •Develop FPGA RTL for CSI-2 ingest, Ethernet packetization, timestamp/metadata insertion, and camera synchronization logic, supporting timing closure and integration with high-speed transceivers/PHYs.
  • •Execute validation plans and build test fixtures using lab equipment to test latency, bandwidth, and synchronization; perform hardware/RTL boundary debugging and root-cause analysis.
  • •Manage component lifecycle via PLM and align with hardware vendors/contract manufacturers to support DFM/DFA and production scaling, while collaborating across teams and mentoring junior engineers.
Travel: Medium travel

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years of electrical engineering experience with time-sensitive, high-performance FPGA hardware design for real-time applications.
  • •Strong FPGA RTL development in VHDL and/or Verilog, including timing closure, clock-domain crossing, and resource/power optimization.
  • •Experience designing and validating high-speed digital interfaces such as CSI-2, GMSL/SerDes (GMSL2/FPD-Link/PoC), and Ethernet (e.g., 10GbE/PCIe) with signal integrity and impedance-controlled routing.
  • •Hands-on camera/image sensor hardware experience (MIPI CSI-2, SerDes like GMSL/FPD-Link) and ISP integration for robotics/automotive vision systems.
  • •Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field, plus excellent communication and debugging skills using lab equipment.
