Job Summary

Operate a variety of paving and groundwork equipment for asphalt construction projects in Greensboro. Control paver material depth and flow, support grade/drainage and paving pattern work, and perform tasks such as cutting pavement, installing curbing, placing expansion-joint material, and routing cracks. Maintain efficient, safe equipment operation through minor servicing, inspections, and troubleshooting, while coordinating tasks like truck dumping and traffic control.

Key Responsibilities

•Operate paving and groundwork equipment (e.g., pavers, rollers, grinders/milling machines, backhoes, bobcats, bulldozers, curb machines, asphalt paving machines).
•Control material depth and distribution through paving equipment and maintain a constant material flow into hoppers or screeds.
•Perform related paving tasks such as cutting/breaking pavement, driving guardrail posts, routing cracks, and cleaning/cutting expansion joints.
•Maintain equipment condition by performing minor servicing and maintenance, inspecting and repairing equipment, and reporting major malfunctions to supervisors.
•Assist on site operations including coordinating truck dumping, shoveling blacktop, controlling traffic, and setting up/tearing down equipment.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED required.
•Minimum 1 year experience and/or training in a related field (or equivalent education and experience).
•Preferred: minimum 3 years of road construction experience.
•Must be 18+ and pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and criminal background check.
•Maintain a current driver’s license meeting state requirements (CDL Class A and/or B, with possible hazmat and tanker endorsements).
