Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead or co-own hypersonic vehicle shaping and aero/aerothermal design activities, including performance, stability, and thermal environment definition.
  • •Predict and analyze aerodynamic heating environments using engineering (first-order/closed-form) methods and higher-fidelity aerothermal analysis as needed.
  • •Develop and evaluate Thermal Protection System (TPS) concepts, materials, architectures, and margins in close partnership with materials and structures.
  • •Support trajectory-coupled entry, descent, and re-entry aerothermal environment prediction and vehicle performance assessments.
  • •Help establish and execute aerothermal/TPS test approaches, including ground test planning, execution, data analysis, and correlation with predicted environments and TPS performance.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • •5–7+ years of professional aerospace engineering experience.
  • •Experience contributing to or leading a project from concept through implementation (design, analysis, test, and fielding or equivalent closure).
  • •Demonstrated experience in hypersonic aerodynamic design for high-speed flight or atmospheric entry vehicles.
  • •Experience with aerothermal heating analysis and TPS/heat-shield materials, architectures, and thermal performance evaluation (heat-shield ownership is a plus).
