Job Summary

Lead a high-volume Marks & Spencer Food store by driving commercial performance, operational excellence, and people capability. Own the store’s strategy and P&L results, monitor KPIs across sales, margin, inventory, waste, and productivity, and deliver exceptional customer experience. Provide oversight of daily operations across Food departments, ensure food safety and regulatory compliance (including HACCP and municipality requirements), and optimize inventory and supply chain execution.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop and execute the store’s commercial strategy to achieve sales, profitability, and operational targets while analysing trading performance and acting on improvement plans.
•Monitor key KPIs including sales, gross margin, inventory, waste, shrinkage, labour productivity, and customer satisfaction.
•Provide strategic oversight of daily store operations across all Food departments, ensuring standards, policies, and procedures are consistently implemented.
•Lead and develop large cross-functional teams, including coaching, mentoring, succession planning, performance management, and talent retention.
•Ensure full compliance with M&S Food Safety standards, HACCP requirements, Municipality regulations, and Health & Safety legislation, including leading food safety audits and corrective actions.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Retail Management, Hospitality, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
•10+ years of experience in Food Retail, Supermarket, Hypermarket, or Grocery Retail.
•5+ years of experience leading large-format or flagship retail stores.
•Proven track record delivering sustainable sales growth, profitability, and operational excellence.
•Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP, Municipality regulations, and retail compliance.
