Job Summary

Measure and record distances, directions, and angles for pipeline surveying projects in the field. Operate electronic survey data collectors and equipment such as GPS (including RTK), Total Stations, and data collectors to determine precise feature locations using known reference points. Maintain accurate field notes for drafting and surveying deliverables, while troubleshooting conventional surveying equipment and GPS issues. Work onsite in Houston and support oil & gas and process industry projects.

•Measure and record distances between survey points using tape or electronic survey equipment.
•Determine precise locations of important features by selecting known reference points and collecting field survey data.
•Occasionally record and deliver quality field notes to enable accurate map or drawing production.
•Help with survey equipment such as RTK GPS and conventional total station systems.
•Troubleshoot modern conventional surveying equipment and GPS issues in the field.

Travel: Low travel

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or equivalent; associates degree or technical training is preferred for advancement.
•One year of hands-on experience collecting data with GPS and conventional total stations.
•Two years of experience in pipeline surveying (control, topographic, and boundary surveying preferred).
•Knowledge of safe work practices and ability to operate assigned surveying tools and equipment.
•Proven experience with radio detection pipe locators and ability to troubleshoot modern surveying equipment and GPS issues.
