Job Summary

Drive the technical vision, architecture, and design of Elasticsearch’s core storage and query engine for observability workloads. Lead architectural evolution of storage engine components, identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, and improve indexing layouts, serialization formats, and resource utilization. Partner across a globally distributed team to build industry-leading logs and metrics capabilities, act as an SME, triage issues and PRs, and write idiomatic modern Java to ship scalable, high-performance systems.

•Lead the architectural evolution of core storage engine components, continuously identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks in indexing layouts, serialization formats, and resource utilization.
•Lead cross-organizational initiatives to drive and build industry-leading observability solutions.
•Work with a globally distributed engineering team focused on logs and metrics capabilities of Elasticsearch.
•Drive continuous operational and system improvements by introducing clean coding best practices and clarifying complex system behaviors and platform architecture.
•Serve as an Elasticsearch subject matter expert, triage and resolve issues and pull requests, and mentor engineers across the organization.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: CAD 154,000 - 243,600 annually

•Strong core Java skills, including deep understanding of concurrency primitives and ability to design and optimize data structures and algorithms.
•Experience indexing, storing, and querying time-series or logs data using novel techniques.
•Experience with one or more data storage technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Prometheus.
•Ability to collaborate across functions and teams, work autonomously in a distributed environment, and communicate clearly.
