Job Summary

Engineering Manager to lead multiple core product areas within Access Essentials, building and guiding a backend Java team responsible for authentication/authorization features. You’ll shape product and technical strategy, ensure scalable, secure identity capabilities, drive hiring and talent development, and partner across teams to deliver high-impact identity solutions on Okta’s Secure Identity Platform.

Key Responsibilities

•Collaborate cross-functionally and across teams, with responsibility for the product, team health, and customer satisfaction.
•Contribute to defining the strategic direction (product & technical) and roadmap for the team.
•Ensure technical leadership is being provided to the engineers on the team in terms of scalable and maintainable systems. Ensure a high-quality bar through testing and testing automation.
•Participate in and enable key team processes to organize & deliver key projects with high business impact.
•Build a team for the long term, including creating a collaborative working environment, recruitment, and developing existing talent.

Key Requirements

•3+ years managing engineering teams, balancing new feature/product development and maintaining existing features.
•Experience in stakeholder management, including alignment, prioritization, communication, and receiving and incorporating feedback.
•Demonstrated ability to build teams from ground-up, managing performance, mentoring and coaching teams
•Demonstrated focus on delivering outcomes, balancing constraints and tight deadlines.
•7-10 years of prior software development experience with Java or other backend technologies. While this role is a people management one, you’ll still need to bring relevant technical experience to ensure sound technical decision-making.
