IP Medical Coder

Ensure accurate inpatient coding by assigning ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and DRG codes based on clinical documentation. Validate physicians’ final diagnoses and operative procedures for completeness and accuracy, abstract secondary diagnoses and complications, and review documentation consistency. Support compliance with DOH (formerly HAAD) coding standards, compute correct DRG assignments, and provide constructive feedback to physicians. Train and mentor medical coders and medical records technicians as coding guidance updates.
