Job Summary

Inspect and process eggs for incubation and chicks through grading, tray egg preparation, data entry, sanitation, and hatch support at the Cobb Three Springs Farm. Operate and maintain hatchery equipment, clean and sanitize hatchery areas, wingband and vaccinate chicks, count and deliver them to brooding houses, and euthanize selected substandard chicks per approved methods. Work a defined 1st-shift schedule with safety, biosecurity, and PPE requirements.

Key Responsibilities

•Inspect and process eggs for incubation, and inspect/process chicks; maintain and clean the hatchery facility.
•Grade and transfer eggs from pedigree flocks for hatch, including examining shells and placing substandard eggs in containers.
•Record egg and chick information via data entry onto a touch screen tablet.
•Perform sanitation activities, including operating tray washer and cleaning/sanitizing setters, hatchers, egg rooms, tables, drains, and chick processing areas.
•Assist in the hatch process, including wingbanding chicks, vaccinating chicks, counting chicks, delivering chicks to brooding houses, and euthanizing selected substandard chicks using company-approved methods.

Key Requirements

•At least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no employment gaps greater than 6 months in the past 36 months (18 months if laid off or providing child/elder care).
•Previous work history does not apply to applicants who have been full-time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
•Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
•Must follow biosecurity/animal welfare/safety requirements, including showering and changing clothing/footwear before entering the facility, and signing required agreements.
•Rehire criteria: minimum waiting period of 180 days; rehire rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
