Job Summary

Maintain, repair, and overhaul heavy military and construction equipment at Fort Hood, focusing on combat systems such as engineer equipment (trucks, bulldozers, graders, loaders, and related machinery). Diagnose defects and perform field-level maintenance on engines, transmissions, drive trains, hydraulics, brakes, fuel systems, and electrical components, including inspection, teardown/reassembly, testing, and welding. Oversee non-specialized mechanics to ensure quality repairs.

Key Responsibilities

•Maintain, repair, and overhaul heavy military equipment, with focus on combat systems and engineer equipment used in construction and combat support operations.
•Perform field-level and sustained maintenance on engines, transmissions, drive trains, hydraulic systems, brakes, fuel systems, and electrical components.
•Operate and inspect equipment to diagnose defects, dismantle/reassemble using hoists and hand tools, and replace defective components.
•Test overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency and weld broken parts and structural members.
•Repair, adjust, and maintain mining machinery and oversee non-specialized mechanics to ensure quality repairs.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 28.38 hourly

Key Requirements

•Proficiency with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
•Experience with turbine engines, diesel/gasoline engines, and complex fire control systems.
•Operator-level knowledge of combat system capabilities and procedures.
•Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and background screening, including favorable TIER-1 investigation result and CAC (Common Access Card) eligibility.
•Bring and use own General Mechanics tools.
