Key Responsibilities

  • •Own automation and controls engineering scope for power generation projects and assets, including DCS/SCADA architecture, PLC systems, instrumentation, and control networks from philosophy through commissioning and ongoing reliability.
  • •Lead controls and electrical integration for utility-scale and low-voltage electrical power systems, including switchgear, protection and metering, and power system controls aligned to NFPA, NESC, and IEEE standards.
  • •Manage balance-of-plant controls and supporting utility/process system automation across fuel gas, HVAC, fire protection, compressed air, cooling water, and auxiliary systems.
  • •Build, mentor, and manage automation and controls engineers and technicians; scale the team and systems to meet power generation and Starship production/launch targets.
  • •Support field commissioning and reliability improvements, including loop checks, functional/protection testing, start-up, hand-off, and root-cause investigations; oversee SOWs and contractor/OEM interfaces as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related fields.
  • •8+ years of automation and controls engineering experience, preferably on industrial power generation (gas turbine, combined cycle, or steam systems) or large-scale critical power infrastructure.
  • •3+ years of experience directly managing or leading a team of engineers (and preferably technicians).
  • •Hands-on experience with DCS and/or PLC/SCADA platforms used in power generation or heavy industrial applications.
  • •Working knowledge of electrical power systems, including utility-scale and low-voltage switchgear, protection, metering, and their interface with automation and controls.
