Job Summary

Draft and analyse Precedent H/R for complex Legacy and Military costs claims, supporting the costs management process up to CCMC. You’ll manage an end-to-end caseload: review cases, prepare points of dispute, negotiate settlement parameters by telephone, and keep clients updated against SLAs, KPIs, and MI requirements. The role also includes arranging counsel for assessment hearings and mediations, delegating tasks to a Paralegal, and ensuring compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations.

•Prepare points of dispute and reply considerations; identify strengths and weaknesses versus opponents’ cases.
•Negotiate settlement of costs by telephone, update clients on progress, and arrange counsel for detailed assessment hearings and mediations.

Key Requirements

•2+ years’ experience as a costs budgeter or negotiator handling your own caseload (claimant or defendant).
•Degree and/or LPC and/or ALCD.
•Experience preparing Precedent H/Precedent R and working through the Detailed Assessment process (including Bills, Schedules of Costs, Budgets, Points of Dispute).
•Good telephone negotiation skills with experience conducting advocacy.
•Proficient IT skills in Microsoft packages.
