Key Responsibilities

  • •Work under the direction of the Steward and Cook to assist with meal preparation using appropriate safety and sanitation procedures.
  • •Clean the galley and specified decks, including washing dishes/silverware, cleaning shelves, and handling trash removal.
  • •Take orders and serve meals; assist with retrieving stores and performing basic food preparations.
  • •Assist with stocking, inventory, and storage of food and galley supplies, including putting up stores upon arrival.
  • •Participate in mandatory emergency training drills and required training; work the scheduled 12-hour day with overtime.

Key Requirements

  • •Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
  • •Currently hold, or have the ability to obtain, a U.S. Passport.
  • •Hold a Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with the Steward’s Department Food Handler (FH) endorsement.
  • •Hold a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) to access MTSA-regulated facilities and vessels.
  • •Be willing and able to work away from home for periods in excess of two months and complete physically demanding tasks (lifting, pushing/pulling, climbing, and standing).
