Join the Field Services – Major Projects team as an Intermediate Geotechnical Technician in Fort McMurray, Alberta. You’ll support geotechnical field programs, drilling, instrumentation installations, and site inspections on major infrastructure projects, ensuring safety and quality from field data collection to reporting. This hands-on role emphasizes fieldwork, data handling, and collaboration within the Ground Engineering group.

Key Responsibilities

•Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring site-specific policies and SOPs are followed
•Monitor geotechnical drilling programs, instrumentation installations, and core sample recovery activities
•Classify soil and bedrock samples and perform field testing of soils, bedrock, and groundwater
•Install and maintain geotechnical instrumentation supporting slope stability and foundation investigations
•Collect readings from geotechnical instruments (inclinometers, ShapeAccelArrays, vibrating wire) and document findings clearly

Key Requirements

•Geological, Construction, or Civil Engineering Technology Diploma
•Minimum 3 years of relevant geotechnical or field services experience
•Hands-on experience with geotechnical drilling and instrumentation installation
•Ability to work rotational schedules ranging from 1 to 3 weeks on shift (days and nights)
•Strong written and verbal English communication skills; safety-focused mindset
