Job Summary

Lead CAD and drafting design activities for energy projects within AECOM’s Energy team. Based in Sydney or Brisbane, you’ll deliver high-quality design drawings across primary, substations, transmission, civil and structural works, mentor others, and ensure CAD outputs meet project standards using AutoCAD, MicroStation and common data environments.

Job Function: Energy & Utilities Operations

Key Responsibilities

•Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design excellence, covering design models and drawings for substations, equipment and utilities, set out drawings, single line diagrams, secondary schematics and more.
•Collaborate with engineers and drafters locally, across Australia, and with international teams to integrate design inputs and maintain high-quality technical design.
•Contribute to design documentation, review drawings, and ensure outputs meet project specifications and quality standards.
•Support, manage and coordinate the delivery of design milestones, ensuring deliverables meet scope, verification, standards, timeframes and budget.
•Provide technical guidance and mentorship on digital design tools and workflows across the Energy team.

Key Requirements

•Proven experience delivering energy CAD designs across primary, substation, secondary, protection or related projects.
•Experience developing concept designs from scratch with minimum supervision, prioritizing safety and innovation.
•5+ years’ experience in High Voltage projects with Australian energy client experience (Transgrid/Ausgrid/Powerlink/Energex) is advantageous.
•Proficiency with core CAD packages (AutoCAD and MicroStation) and knowledge of common data environments (Transgrid ProjectWise EDMS, Powerlink Autodesk Vault, Energex Autodesk Vault).
•Experience leading CAD teams or providing team leadership is advantageous.
