Build and deploy manipulation policies for physical robots, taking work from task definition and demonstration collection through training, evaluation, and reliable on-robot execution. Train and fine-tune learned policies (e.g., vision-language-action models, diffusion policies, action-chunking transformers), diagnose failures with controlled experiments, and improve real customer metrics like success rate and intervention rate. Location: Sunnyvale
Workplace: Onsite
Employment Type: Full time
Job Function: Education & Training

Key Responsibilities

  • •Work end-to-end on manipulation learning: task definition, demonstration collection, data curation, training, real-robot evaluation, and deployment.
  • •Train and fine-tune manipulation policies, selecting appropriate approaches for each task and scaling from large pretrained models to compact policies.
  • •Develop repeatable recipes for industrial tasks (e.g., pick-and-place, bimanual handling, contact-rich assembly), incorporating force/tactile signals when helpful.
  • •Deploy policies on edge compute and validate observation processing, action interfaces, and control timing on the robot.
  • •Improve performance by turning failures and interventions into better data, models, and evaluation tied to customer metrics.

Key Requirements

  • •Trained or fine-tuned a learned manipulation policy and deployed and evaluated it on a physical robot.
  • •Strong Python and PyTorch skills, with the ability to write maintainable training, evaluation, and deployment code.
  • •Practical depth in imitation learning and familiarity with a modern policy family (e.g., vision-language-action models, diffusion policies, action-chunking transformers).
  • •Working knowledge of robot kinematics, coordinate frames, camera calibration, and connecting learned actions to low-level control.
  • •Ability to diagnose failures using controlled experiments across data, sensing, model, and execution.
