Job Summary

Develop next-generation modem technologies for free-space optical communications, designing and optimizing coherent DSP algorithms for high-throughput links. You’ll build end-to-end modem DSP chains (equalization, timing/carrier recovery, and FEC), perform system-level modeling and simulations (link budgets and channel impairments), and translate architectures for efficient ASIC/FPGA implementation. Partner with hardware and firmware teams, support lab bring-up, and incorporate relevant industry standards into deployable modem solutions.

•Architect end-to-end modem DSP chains, including equalization, timing recovery, carrier recovery, and FEC integration.

•Define DSP architecture specifications for ASIC/FPGA implementation and collaborate to integrate algorithms into modem designs.
•Support lab bring-up, validation, and characterization of modem systems; incorporate relevant industry standards into designs.

Key Requirements

•Active security clearance, or eligibility to obtain one.
•M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
•Strong foundation in digital signal processing, communication theory, and high-speed communication system design.
•Hands-on experience with coherent DSP or high-speed SerDes/optical systems, including adaptive equalization, synchronization, and FEC (e.g., LDPC, Viterbi, soft decoding).
•Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and/or C/C++ for modeling and algorithm development, including ability to build cycle-accurate fixed-point system models.
