Job Summary

Architect and engineer reliable, scalable, secure database infrastructure as part of Visa’s Database Engineering team. Own SQL Server database design, deployment, lifecycle management, migrations, automation, and high-availability configurations (HADR, clustering, replication, encryption). Support cloud deployment and onboarding, perform optimization and consolidation activities, and build reporting dashboards using Power BI/SSRS. Provide L3 escalation support and automate patching and upgrades with Ansible and PowerShell.

Key Responsibilities

•Design, develop, deploy, manage lifecycle, and automate SQL Server database migration and administration
•Install, configure, and support SQL Server HADR, clustering, replication, encryption, partitioning, performance, backup, security, and SSIS/SSRS services
•Implement deployment standards and operating procedures, including cost-effective Active-Active solutions
•Develop and run SQL Server cloud deployment models and integrations, including complex SQL migrations and optimization for consolidation and technology reduction
•Automate SQL Server version upgrades, patching, and security standards using Ansible and PowerShell; provide L3 support for escalated incidents and performance optimization; create internal Power BI/SSRS dashboards

Key Requirements

•5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or at least 2 years with an advanced degree (e.g., Masters/MBA/JD/MD), or 0 years with a PhD
•5+ years of DBA experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including HADR, clustering, Always On, distributed AG, replication, encryption, partitioning, and performance tuning
•Expertise in proof of concepts, onboarding, and certification of new SQL Server versions and tools
•Strong knowledge of SQL Server cloud deployment standards, integration, and onboarding to cloud platforms
•Strong experience writing and managing Ansible and PowerShell scripts for database deployment, patching, and automation
