Job Summary

Build and evolve Salesforce’s service mesh and ingress gateway platform that fronts customer traffic with secure, scalable, observable L4/L7 load balancing and proxying. Key Responsibilities

•Join the Service Mesh and Ingress Gateway team to build load balancing and proxy platform capabilities for customer traffic.
•Drive the design and implementation of the next-generation ingress gateway data plane and control plane using cloud-native primitives.
•Transform and enhance the open-source-based service mesh stack (Envoy data plane, Istio control plane) to improve reliability, scalability, and features.
•Deliver secure, resilient, observable communication through application networking layer ownership, including north-south traffic securing and proxying.
•Balance live-site management with feature delivery and technical debt retirement, including participating in on-call to resolve real-time complex issues.

Key Requirements

•10+ years of experience with a strong infrastructure background, including defining and driving technical strategy for infrastructure platforms (compute, networking, storage, observability).
•Own architecture decisions and set multi-year roadmaps to ensure scalable, reliable systems that support engineering teams.
•Establish paved-path patterns for reliability, performance, and operational excellence through mentoring, design reviews, and cross-team alignment on infrastructure standards.
•Experience with Istio and Envoy (huge plus).
•Proficiency with Golang, Java and/or C++ in Linux/UNIX environments, including operating mission-critical services on Kubernetes and designing for resilient distributed systems.
