Job Summary

Lead geotechnical engineering work for bridges, buildings, tunnels, and underground structures as part of the Geotechnical and Tunneling team. You’ll perform design analyses and prepare geotechnical memoranda, technical reports, and presentations, coordinating from project inception through design and construction. Manage mid-level and/or multiple concurrent projects, oversee cross-functional teams, and review/approve infrastructure design plans for code and regulatory compliance, using advanced modeling and geotechnical design tools.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform geotechnical engineering design and analyses for bridges, buildings, tunnels, underground structures, and retaining walls with minimal supervision.
•Prepare/draft geotechnical memoranda, data reports, and design reports, and produce technical reports and presentations explaining recommendations to address design/construction issues.
•Coordinate geotechnical work across New England and other areas, managing projects from inception through completion for infrastructure rehabilitation and reconstruction.
•Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams and projects, including budgets, tracking hours/expenses, technical calculations, permit applications, construction, and compliance documentation.
•Coordinate, review, and approve infrastructure design plans for data integrity and compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering (or closely related field).
•7 to 10 years of relevant experience.
•Professional engineer license required.
•Extensive knowledge of geotechnical engineering and working knowledge of related disciplines (Structures, Civil, and/or Environmental).
•Proficiency with technical writing and discipline-specific design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoSlope, Plaxis, Settle, LPILE, GROUP, GRLWEAP, SEEP/W, RockSciences Software).
