Job Summary

Own the buy-side ocean freight procurement for North America, building carrier relationships, securing rates, and managing space and capacity commitments on key trade lanes. Key Responsibilities

•Own buy-side ocean freight procurement for North America, including carrier relationships, rate tariffs, and named-account rates across key trade lanes.
•Direct the pricing desk (RFQs/tenders, spot quote turnaround SLAs, and margin guidance) and ensure accurate rate distribution/validity in quoting systems.
•Secure space allocations and capacity commitments with carriers, manage weekly allocations and MQCs, and balance contract (NAC), FAK, and spot buying mix.
•Ensure FMC/NVOCC regulatory compliance, including service contract filings, NRAs/NSAs, tariff publication, and detention/demurrage compliance under OSRA 2022; support Canadian ocean booking/documentation compliance.
•Manage carrier performance via quarterly business reviews and scorecards, and act as escalation point for service failures and detention/demurrage disputes.

Key Requirements

•8–12+ years in ocean freight with experience in carrier procurement, trade lane pricing, or ocean product management at an international freight forwarder or NVOCC.
•Established relationships with major ocean carriers serving North America (Trans-Pacific, Trans-Atlantic, and Middle East trades).
•Hands-on command of the US regulatory framework: FMC/NVOCC licensing, service contracts, NRAs/NSAs, tariff publication, and OSRA 2022.
•Proven ability negotiating carrier contracts, MQCs, and named-account rates while managing allocations through tight and soft market cycles.
•Experience running or working closely with a pricing/tender desk, including RFQ economics and margin management; bachelor’s degree in business/supply chain or equivalent experience.
