Job Summary

Operate and set up shop machines to perform very complex machining, assembly, modifications, and repairs for prototype and production parts. Interpret work orders, blueprints, sketches, and instructions to determine machining procedures, tooling, and fixtures. Perform milling, turning, drilling, threading, reaming, and chamfering, then verify dimensions through visual and dimensional inspections using calipers and micrometers. Maintain safe, clean work areas and support internal customer needs with a customer-service approach.

Key Responsibilities

•Safely operate shop machines to produce very complex prototype and production parts, perform modifications and repairs, and fabricate parts from steels, stainless steels, aluminum, plastics, and other non-metals.
•Support in-house customers (manufacturing, engineering, business units, materials, and facilities) with a customer service approach and courteous interface.
•Determine machining processes, procedures, tooling, and fixtures requirements using work orders, blueprints, sketches, and instructions.
•Perform machining and/or assembly tasks using standard machine shop equipment and plan/execute complex machine set-ups.
•Monitor machining and verify part dimensions via visual/dimensional inspections, perform rework, and maintain cleanliness and safety compliance.

•Plan and perform very complex machine set-ups with an advanced working knowledge of trigonometry to calculate machining angles.
•Perform machining operations (milling, turning, facing, boring, drilling, grooving, reaming, chamfering) and verify part dimensions conform to specifications.
•Use visual and dimensional inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, indicators) and perform rework as necessary; able to meet physically demanding duties.
