Job Summary

Provide second line of defence oversight for HSBC’s Markets and Securities Services (Global Macro) across GFX, Rates and Commodities. Deliver regulatory compliance advice on MiFID, MAR, DFA, and industry standards such as FMSB and the FX Code, translating requirements into workable controls. Partner with Sales & Trading, Global Macro NFR and COO teams, keep pace with regulatory change, and support compliance risk assessment, testing, and governance forums.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide independent oversight and challenge of risk management practices across MSS businesses, global functions and jurisdictions within the second line of defence.
•Offer regulatory compliance advice supporting Global Macro coverage, including industry standards and relevant MSS regulations such as MiFID, MAR and DFA.
•Partner with Entity, Regional and Group Regulatory Compliance to deliver mandated initiatives and share information/best practice.
•Provide robust advice and challenge as a Risk Steward, focusing on compliance oversight and risk stewardship across Macro trading activities.
•Maintain awareness of regulatory and legislative changes, advise on implementation, and support regulatory change initiatives including revisions to BAU rules and requirements and compliance risk assessment activities.

Key Requirements

•Solid experience in a Regulatory Compliance role/function (or close equivalent) with confidence to provide credible challenge as 2LoD.
•Working knowledge of the Macro regulatory landscape including MiFID, MAR, DFA and key market standards (FMSB, FX Code).
•Product and flow understanding across FX, Rates and Commodities, including ETD and OTC derivatives, and how controls/governance operate around trading activity.
•Knowledge of algo/electronic trading control frameworks, including MiFID II RTS 6.
•A technology background or proven ability to partner effectively with tech on control design/testing, while running an independent portfolio of work with clear priorities and outcomes.
