Key Responsibilities

  • •Run payroll end-to-end and own the full in-house Portuguese payroll cycle each cycle.
  • •Maintain payroll master data accuracy for hires/terminations, salary changes, variable pay, benefits, absences, and garnishments.
  • •Perform pre- and post-payroll validations, and check payroll journals and GL mappings for data integrity.
  • •Handle statutory filings and accesses, including IRS withholding declarations, DMR filings, Modelo 10, and subsídio de doença/parental reimbursement claims.
  • •Support assigned client payroll tickets, escalate beyond-scope issues with clear context, and help prepare statutory/ad-hoc reporting and audit documentation.

Key Requirements

  • •1–3 years running native (in-house) payroll processes for Portugal and independently handling a defined volume of payslips per month.
  • •Hands-on experience with Portuguese payroll software Cegid (Primavera or PHC) and/or Sendys.
  • •Completed a recognized accounting/payroll qualification (e.g. Contabilista Certificado) and/or a dedicated payroll processing certification.
  • •Working knowledge of Portuguese wage tax, social insurance, and labor law, with willingness to build deeper expertise over time.
  • •Portuguese at C1/C2 for interaction with local authorities and fluent English for collaborating with an async global team.
